What's stopping us?

We're not called to be Christians. We're called to be disciples. So why aren't we living lives that matter? Why do we act so negligently? When we see the poor become poorer and starving grow more hungry, we just turn around and look for the easiest option. What happened for caring for the lost and abandoned? When did we abandon that ideal? I mean, I know life gets hard and busier and busier, but I want us to start living this faith more real. I know I have to grow more and I want everyone to grow in Christ. Don't take this the wrong way, but maybe our lives are a little too nice. Maybe our lives are too easy. Oh, we may not have the fanciest car, biggest house, or happiest life, but we take our blessings for granted. We really do. There comes a tipping point in everyone's life that blessings become curses. That they cease to add to someone's life, and then start taking away from others. Let me put it another way. Our blessings are meant for others and not just ourselves and when we keep them boxed into our comfortable lives, they stop being blessings and start being curses. Because then those who really need the love and compassion, those who really need the affection an blessing, see us with our blessings from God and then not give them away. Then their view of Christians gets messed up. When we should be disciples and helping those around us, we really are just hurting those who don't need to be hurt anymore. If we are the lights of the world, then we need to start getting out in darkness.
