What happened to the Gospel?

What happened to the gospel?
Shouldn't Christ be at the center of our lives? I feel like that's the good news.
That's what it's all about.
Anything that we have before, beside, or instead of god is purely idol worship.
How often do we create golden calves?
How many times do we make gods that resemble ourselves?
It may not be intentional, but slowly but surely we inch further and further away from God. We ask for help and don't get a response.
How many times does God ask for our attention and we say we're too busy? We dig ourselves deeper and farther away from God.
We put things in front of him and that's when sin creeps in.
Whenever we fail to realize that our lives should be centered on the redemptive work of the cross, it's all but a loss. It's for nothing.
God cares about what we're doing on Friday nights.
God cares about what we're doing when we ignore the homeless.
God cares about what we're doing when we lose sight of who he is.
Moses went up to Sinai for a couple days and the Israelites, upset that they hadn't heard from God, made their own.
They forged and molded a fake god that would answer all their requests but have little demands from them. A prayer ATM.
We do the same thing.
Whenever we feel like God isn't responding, we go along with another plan until god finally answers. But that's not faith. That's not doing it right.
Christ is the center of our lives.
The gospel is at the core of our very being, and when we fail to recognize it's redemptive qualities, it loses its meaning.
A word has no use if it's not heard.
Christ's message doesn't matter if we don't take it seriously.
He said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to God except through me." We're on this journey and this world gets a little hard. But things tend to make a little more sense with God in mind.
