What's yours is mine.

I think we're a pretty selfish society. Blanket statement as that may be, there is a sense of truth in recognizing America's overwhelming depravity. Every generation always looks to the past as "the good old days," and in this regard, it's somewhat true because with every generation, we move further and further away from God.

There might be pockets here and there in America gearing for revival, but collectively, America continues to turn away from God. Every time I turn on the news, there's some rapist on the loose, some racist getting away with murder, some adulterer pleading innocence, and it goes on and on. It's really depressing.

And with every sin, humanity adds more and more bondage. That's right. Your sins are my sins, and my sins are yours because we live in community. And we, the church, need to recognize that we need to confess our sins. Not just our sins, but everyone's sins. Corporate sin. My lust affects more than just me. It hinders my relationship with my future spouse, my future congregation, etc. What I do ripples towards others.

Just like Job made sacrifices on behalf of his children, the church must also take this upon herself to account for the sins of humanity. If we don't, sins will just snowball bigger and bigger. We need to take a stand as a body of believers and take the sins of the world upon us, just as Christ did, ask God for mercy.

And I don't mean that we can relinquish sin from the world. Christ already did that 2000 years ago. But we, the bride of Christ, need to be blameless and spotless. And we can't be that way if there's sin in the world. We can't just separate ourselves from everyone else. We can't be "righteous" and everyone else "sinful." A business cannot do well if just one department is doing well and every other part is sucking. We are all sinful. Mankind is depraved.

So what does this look like? The joining of hands, sinner to sinner, to come together and thank God for what he's done and will do and mainly to confess the sins of this nation ranging from pride, ethnocentrism, hate speech, gay condemnation, etc. If we want God to show up and revive this nation, we need to not ignore our sins.
